China is ready for negotiations with the European Union regarding diplomatic ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
In this regard, the Celestial Empire hopes that Brussels will demonstrate “strategic independence and political wisdom.”
This statement was made by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, on Tuesday, April 4.
Let us recall that earlier the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, addressed the Chinese authorities.
She called on the country’s leadership to play a constructive role in the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
According to the head of the EC, China has the opportunity to influence Russia’s position.
We are ready to discuss with the European side a political settlement of the crisis – Mao Ning MIA “Russia Today”.
She added that Beijing expects Brussels to demonstrate “strategic independence and political wisdom.”
Also, according to her, China hopes that the EU will take decisive measures to “achieve long-term peace and stability in Europe.”
Mao Ning separately noted that the PRC is not a party to the Ukrainian conflict, and the position of the Celestial Empire on this issue remains unchanged – the crisis must be resolved peacefully.
The diplomat also informed that Ursula von der Leyen will be in her country on an official visit from April 5 to April 7.
