The People’s Republic of China has decided to recall its ambassador from Vilnius.
This is explained by Lithuania’s decision to allow Taiwan to open its own diplomatic mission in the country.
The corresponding statement is on the official Internet portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
Diplomats noted that the PRC has repeatedly approached the Republic of Lithuania regarding the representation of Taiwan.
It was stated that the appearance of a corresponding organization in the Baltic country would lead to serious consequences.
However, as representatives of the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated, Lithuania has repeatedly ignored these appeals.
According to the Chinese authorities, Lithuania committed a gross violation of the “spirit of the communiqué.” The action of the European state is detrimental to the territorial integrity of the Asian country, according to representatives of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
As a result, the Chinese government came to the conclusion that it was necessary to recall the head of its diplomatic mission from the Lithuanian capital.
