The first case of human infection with bird flu has been identified in China. This happened in Henan province.

According to the State Health Committee of the People’s Republic of China, we are talking about the H3N8 virus.

It is known that a four-year-old boy, a resident of the Zhumadian urban district, was infected.

The appearance of characteristic symptoms was preceded by close interaction between the child and poultry.

In addition, there were wild ducks near the house where the baby lives,” MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

It is noted that the boy showed the first bad signs, including fever, on April 5, and five days later, due to his deteriorating condition, he was taken to the hospital.

Three days ago, on April 24, the analysis was carried out. He detected an H3N8 infection in the patient.

Experts say that this virus is of “avian” origin. Previously, as far as is known, it did not have the ability to infect people.

The H3N8 virus has been found in horses, dogs, birds and seals around the world, but no cases of H3N8 have been reported in humans, the report said.

Experts from the State Committee of the Celestial Empire believe that the incident with the boy is an accidental interspecies transmission of the virus from birds to humans.

In their opinion, the risk of large-scale spread of the virus in this way is small.
