The new moon suit is an evolution of the Feitian, China’s first space suit. Feitian means “flying in the sky” and is the name of a legendary Buddhist goddess. “The Feitian extravehicular activity suit is designed for use, where astronauts float in a microgravity environment,” explained Zhang Wanxin, director of the Spacesuit Engineering Office and deputy head of the astronautical system at the China Astronaut Research and Training Center.
A multipurpose suit
After the demonstration, Yang Liwei, deputy chief designer of China’s manned space program and China’s first astronaut, launched a campaign to name the new lunar spacesuit. This campaign will end on October 31, 2024. Experts of China’s first lunar spacesuit have provided further details lightweight and flexible.
