Chinese authorities are ready to assist Mongolia in the investigation of coal theft

Mongolia can count on the help of Chinese representatives in the investigation of the theft of coal worth $1.8 billion.

He writes about this on Tuesday with reference to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning, who made an earlier official statement.

Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar, witnessed a large protest on Monday, with several thousand people gathering in front of the Government Palace following the revelation that $1.8 billion worth of coal had been stolen by government officials.

Protests in Mongolia have been going on for several days, and each time the protesters’ speeches become more radical and aggressive.

Nevertheless, the Khural of Mongolia decided not to declare a state of emergency in the capital in connection with the protests.

“As a friendly neighboring state, we are confident that the Mongolian authorities will investigate and take appropriate measures regarding this matter,” said Mao Ning, commenting on the PRC’s position regarding the events in Mongolia.

He also added that the Chinese side is ready to assist and provide answers to any requests from Mongolian departments and services in accordance with the law and regulations.

The day before it became known that the Ministry of Justice of Mongolia asked the Chinese authorities to join this investigation into the theft of coal.
