Chinese social network WeChat deleted accounts of LGBT compatriots

0views

The Chinese social network WeChat has deleted the accounts of its compatriots – representatives of the LGBT community.

It became known that most of them were students from national universities in the country. Previously, the relevant groups received a warning about the violation of the rules.

Despite the fact that homosexuality was excluded from the list of mental disorders of the Chinese Society of Psychiatry back in 2001, the LGBT movement in the country has not received official support.

Marriages and relationships are considered illegal, and last year it was decided to cancel Shanghai Pride.

Representatives of sexual minorities are under the radar of censors, and the Chinese cyberspace administration has promised to cleanse the Internet of such manifestations.

This is done in order to protect the country’s minor population from the harmful influence of relevant groups on social networks.

The world’s media turned to Tencent, the copyright holder of the WeChat resource, for comment.

But they did not comment on the reasons for the mass bans.
