CIA chief: US refusal to help Ukraine would be an own goal

52views

According to US CIA Director William Burns, Washington’s refusal to help Ukraine would be an own goal.

The head of the intelligence agency expressed this opinion in an article for Foreign Affairs.

What Burns said about supporting Ukraine

In an article for the CIA director, he predicts that this year will be a test of endurance for the parties to the conflict in Ukraine, and calls on the United States to continue supporting Kyiv.

Burns calls it a relatively modest investment for Washington, noting that aid to Ukraine amounts to less than 5% of the US defense budget.

He notes that supporting Ukraine will bring geopolitical advantages to Washington, and the defense industry will also benefit.

Continuing arms supplies will strengthen Ukraine’s position if there is an opportunity for serious negotiations, – writes the CIA director.

According to him, if the United States stops supporting Ukraine, it will score a goal of historic proportions.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky personally informed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny about his imminent resignation and offered the post of his assistant.
