Citizens of Kyrgyzstan were allowed to take a match instead of a middle name

0views

The Constitutional Court of Kyrgyzstan allowed adult citizens, if they wish, to use a matronym (matronym) instead of a patronymic.

The corresponding decision was made after checking some standards of the Family Code and the law of the republic “On acts of civil status”.

The Constitutional Court recognized these provisions as not contradicting the Constitution, – TASS agency citing the press service of the court.

Priorities

The essence of the appeal was that the applicant asked that the mother have the opportunity to give her child a patronymic after her own name, in other words, to be given the opportunity to use the match, – the explanation says.

It is noted that the right of parents to give a name to a child, according to the Soviet tradition, is directly in contact with the child’s right “to ensure the best interests and favorable conditions for his development and formation in an appropriate social environment.”

In this regard, the Constitutional Court considers the rights of the child, which are under state protection, to be a priority.

But since a child with a match may be subject to bullying, the claim was denied.

Coming of age

At the same time, they were allowed to take up matchmaking upon reaching adulthood.

The decision is justified by the fact that a person at this age can adequately assess and respond to existing reality, being fully responsible for his actions.

Therefore, if he does not accept a middle name, he can choose a match.

The court noted that this issue may be relevant only for “a special and insignificant part of the population.”

The Constitutional Court is convinced that the decision made does not contradict the traditional foundations of the society of Kyrgyzstan associated with the assignment of a name.
