CNN: Pelosi may visit Taiwan despite Biden administration concerns

0views

Despite concerns from the administration of US President Joseph Biden, Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan may take place.

There is no information yet about Pelosi’s arrival in Taiwan.

An American television channel reported this on August 1, citing official representatives of Taiwan and the United States.

What is known

According to the channel, the Biden administration expressed concern about China’s reaction to Pelosi’s visit.

The exact time of the speaker’s arrival in Taiwan is not yet known, but she is expected to stay there overnight.

A US official said the Pentagon is monitoring Chinese activities in the region around the clock, working to ensure the speaker’s safety.

It is noted that the opinions of Democrats and Republicans in Congress on this issue were divided: some took a cautious position regarding the “diplomatically sensitive” visit, others believe that Pelosi has the right to make her own decision.

Earlier, the Kyodo agency, citing Taiwanese media, reported that Pelosi could arrive in Taiwan tomorrow evening, and on August 3 could hold a meeting with the head of the Taipei administration, Tsai Ing-wen.
