Czech Foreign Minister: Ukraine’s integration into the EU will not be painless

According to Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky, Ukraine’s integration into the European Union will not be painless.

The head of the Czech Foreign Ministry expressed this opinion in an interview with the RBC-Ukraine agency.

Why Ukraine’s integration into the European Union will not be painless

The agency asked the head of the Czech Foreign Ministry whether negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU could begin in the spring.

The minister noted that this is a political decision, which may not be easy, emphasizing that Prague fully supports the European integration of Ukraine.

It won’t be painless. This will lead to the situation that we observed with Ukrainian grain on the European market, – said Lipavsky, drawing attention to the protests of Polish truck drivers.

According to him, the EU will need political will to overcome the problems that will arise in connection with the integration of Ukraine.

But I think that in general there is a will – noted the head of the Czech Foreign Ministry.

He spoke in favor of continuing arms supplies to Ukraine and called for intensifying reforms in the country to bring it closer to the standards of the EU and the North Atlantic Alliance.

The minister also said that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not achieve its stated goals, and called for tougher sanctions against Russia.

They are effective – added the head of Czech diplomacy.
