Delta coronavirus variant AY.4.2, previously identified in the UK, has been reported in the Czech Republic

The Delta coronavirus mutation currently has several variants. Recently it became known that the last of them was discovered in Norway.

But so far the mutated strain has not left the country, which cannot be said about the previously identified analogue of the “delta” strain in the UK.

It is reported that the British coronavirus AY.4.2 has arrived in the Czech Republic.

We are talking about the subspecies of coronavirus AY.4.2, which originated from the delta coronavirus and was first identified in the UK.

Unlike the Norwegian strain, the British one has been described as the more contagious variant.

The spread of the new subspecies is carefully monitored by epidemiologists at the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

Scientists have yet to find out the resistance of the pathogen to vaccination and developed treatment methods.

So far, media reports have published information that the AY 4.2. The Delta strain is more actively transmitted, and its resistance to antibodies is the same as that of Delta.

Czech experts also report that the dominant type of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the country is the Delta mutation and its subvariant AY.43.

It accounts for almost 98% of all COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic.
