Denmark has stopped investigating sabotage at Nord Stream

57views

Danish police have stopped investigating sabotage on the Russian Nord Stream gas pipelines.

This is stated in a statement published on the website of the Danish security forces.

Why did Denmark stop the investigation?

The investigation was carried out by the Copenhagen Police together with the Security Intelligence Service.

According to the press release, the investigation revealed that there was deliberate sabotage.

Despite this, the investigation did not see sufficient grounds for further investigation.

It is noted that no further comments on the case will be provided.

Last December, Denmark refused to provide Russia with legal assistance in the investigation.

The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, then said that this decision confirmed Copenhagen’s policy of hiding the truth about those who ordered the terrorist attacks.

Russia’s reaction

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the situation with Denmark’s termination of the investigation close to absurd.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, one can only express absolute amazement when, on the one hand, deliberate sabotage is announced, and on the other, there is no further progress.

Peskov added that Moscow will continue to monitor the investigation and use its capabilities to obtain information about sabotage.

Continuing the investigation

Germany remains interested in identifying those involved in the Nord Stream emergency, said German government spokeswoman Christiane Hofmann. The investigation is being led by the country’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

On February 7, the Swedish prosecutor’s office announced the termination of the investigation into sabotage on gas pipelines.

Stockholm stated that Sweden does not have jurisdiction over the incident. The materials collected during the investigation were transferred to Germany.

Earlier, Germany was conducting secret negotiations with India on the purchase of ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
