Why Denmark wants to restrict the movement of tankers carrying oil from the Russian Federation

According to the report, Copenhagen is concerned that old tankers, which it claims are carrying oil from Russia to circumvent sanctions, are a potential threat to the environment in the Baltic Sea region.

As Rasmussen told the agency, Denmark is currently discussing the possibility of limiting the movement of tankers with Russian oil with other countries in the region.

There is broad consensus that the shadow fleet is an international problem and an international solution must be found, – said the head of the Danish Foreign Ministry.

The minister did not specify exactly what measures were planned to be taken, but noted that they must comply with international law.

Western politicians have repeatedly expressed a desire to limit the transportation of Russian oil by sea.

Thus, on June 14, the head of British diplomacy, David Cameron, proposed detaining tankers with oil from Russia.

Earlier it was reported that an American submarine was in Cuban waters.
