On Thursday, June 17, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine organized a mass brawl.
The incident occurred when the people’s representatives were considering amendments to the bill on the reform of the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting.
According to MIA Rossiya Segodnya, a fight broke out after a phrase uttered by a representative of the Servant of the People party.
Nikita Poturaev said that it is necessary, we quote, “to shoot the Opposition Platform.”
According to him, when the era of poverty ends in Ukraine, then the people will rise up and shoot members of the Opposition Platform – For Life party.
Some deputies clearly did not like the message and rolled up their sleeves and jumped into action. A mass fight broke out, more reminiscent of a massacre.
When the passions subsided, Mr. Poturaev publicly apologized for the statement, saying that he did not call anyone to violent actions, and in this room “no one deserves reprisals.”
But this did not convince the representative of the opposition party, Yuri Boyko: the deputy notified his opponent that he would still sue him.
And,” the people’s representative added, “he plans to appeal to the rules committee with a demand to remove Poturaev from office.”
Speaker of Parliament Dmitry Razumkov called on deputies to be tolerant and restrained in their statements.
