54views

The German government has granted Krauss-Maffei Wegmann permission to sell one hundred Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.

The cost of the batch of howitzers is 1.7 billion euros.

This was reported by a German publication on July 27, citing government sources.

What is known

According to the publication, Kyiv requested these howitzers back in April, and the German government issued permission for sale on July 13.

It is not yet known when Ukraine will receive these weapons, since their production takes several years.

Der Spiegel clarifies that this is not about immediate, but about long-term support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Let us recall that on June 21, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Alexey Reznikov, announced the receipt of Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers from Germany with trained Ukrainian crews.

Yesterday, the head of the German Ministry of Defense, Christina Lambrecht, announced the delivery of the promised Mars-II MLRS to Kyiv.
