Dinosaur remains discovered in Australia, possibly belonging to an unknown species

9views

Australian paleontologists discovered the fossilized remains of a dinosaur during excavations in the central part of the continent.

Staff at the Eromanga Natural History Museum believe the find belongs to an unknown population. The age of the fossilized remains is 95 million years.

It is planned that excavations in the valley will continue until 2022. According to experts, this was only the first step in studying this area.

It is also known that excavations began just a week ago. However, it may take about 5 years to find all the possibly preserved parts of a dinosaur species unknown to science.

Due to the imminent cold weather, the search will be suspended on June 1-2.

At this time, all finds discovered by the time the work was suspended will be sent for examination and will be studied most thoroughly in scientific laboratories.

It will be possible to return to the plateau only next year.

At the moment, we have managed to find dinosaur vertebrae. As already mentioned, their age is at least 95 million years. It is possible that they belonged to an unknown inhabitant. The reason for this is the isolation of the continent.

It is assumed that the dinosaur reached impressive sizes, was a herbivore and could have resembled a sauropod.
