Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said that Indonesian authorities have ruled out the personal presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit.

Draghi made this statement on June 28 at a press conference at the end of the G7 summit.

In what format will Putin attend the G20?

Let us recall that the day before, Putin’s assistant Yuri Ushakov said that the Russian president had accepted Indonesia’s invitation to the G20 summit and that the format of participation was still being clarified.

As Draghi said today, Indonesian President Joko Widodo categorically ruled out the personal presence of the Russian leader at the summit.

He won’t come – said the Italian Prime Minister.

At the same time, Draghi did not rule out Putin speaking via video link.

The Russian head of state spoke in this format at last year’s G20 summit in Italy.

This year the G20 summit will take place in Bali on November 15-16.

Earlier, the head of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, said that the leaders of all countries included in the association, including Putin, were invited to the G20 summit.

Indonesia’s position has drawn criticism from a number of countries, in particular the United States, Canada and Australia.
On June 30, a meeting between Putin and Widodo will take place in Moscow, at which the upcoming G20 summit and the problem of exporting Ukrainian grain will be discussed.
