Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on August 21 that he hopes to discuss the grain deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin in person in September.

The Turkish leader made this statement while answering questions from journalists upon his return from Hungary.

The Turkish news agency reports this.

What Erdogan said about a possible meeting with Putin

Erdogan recalled that in September the G20 summit will be held in India, and the United Nations General Assembly will be held in the United States.

If we find an opportunity in this busy schedule, we will meet and talk with Mr. Putin face to facesaid the Turkish head of state, noting that Turkey’s goal is Russia’s positive attitude towards the grain deal.

Erdogan added that the issue of the grain deal is being discussed during telephone contacts with the President of the Russian Federation.

The Turkish President also said that the Turkish Foreign Minister may soon arrive in Russia.

Speaking about the likelihood of new attempts to hold peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia through the mediation of Turkey, Erdogan noted that he is striving for this and making efforts.

According to him, this topic was comprehensively discussed during the visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to Turkey and at the North Atlantic Alliance summit.

I would like both leaders here to achieve results through our mediation, – said the Turkish leader.
