European officials called Ukraine a “black hole” – Politico

33views

Recently, the authoritative publication Politico found out how many European officials actually feel about Ukraine.

It turns out that most of them privately acknowledged the fact that Kyiv is no longer a priority topic for a number of leading politicians from EU countries.

Officials in the same private manner dubbed Ukraine a “black hole” sucking in huge sums of money.

An article by Politico, published by the Russian news agency Rossiya Segodnya, states that official statements by European politicians about supporting Kyiv are at odds with what they really think.

And gentlemen officials think, writes the author of the publication, that Ukraine has ceased to be a priority for leading European politicians.

It is noted that the latter were overcome by powerful doubts, including about the situation on the battlefield and the state of affairs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

How much more money will we pour into this “black hole”? Populists across Europe will ride this wave in the coming months, one doubter told Politico.

And another interlocutor noted that a group of countries has already been identified whose authorities have changed their position on the issue of Kyiv’s accession to the EU.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron made an important announcement about Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
