“Everyone had time to rethink their lives”, says Lula about the failure of a presidential plane in Mexico

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) commented, this Friday (11), on the breakdown suffered by the presidential plane in Mexico, on the 1st.

in one of the engines shortly after taking off from Mexico City and had to fly over the country’s capital for almost five hours before returning to the airport.

“Everyone had time to rethink their lives. I thought a lot about what I had done in life, what I still had to do. We think as a human being, what we did wrong, what we did right, whether we passed through the Earth as a good guy”, declared Lula in an interview with Rádio O Povo CBN.

According to the president, the plane made an unusual noise while still on the runway at the airport in Mexico.

“The plane had a different sound and was shaking a lot,” said Lula.

The head of the Executive reiterated, during the interview, that it is necessary to acquire new aircraft for the movement of the president himself and state ministers.

Lula even spoke about the request made to the Minister of Defense, José Múcio Monteiro, to prepare proposals for the purchase of the aircraft.

“We learned a lesson: we are going to buy not just one plane, but we need to buy some planes. In Brazil, which has continental dimensions, we need to prepare, we cannot be caught by surprise”, said Lula.

“I asked the Minister of Defense to make a proposal and we are going to buy a plane for the President of the Republic. Ignorance cannot prevail. A plane for the president is for the institution, whoever the president is. And we are going to buy other planes, because ministers need to travel”, concluded the president.
