Fifth repatriation flight takes off from Lebanon with 220 passengers

The fifth repatriation flight of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) took off from Lebanon this Sunday (13) with 220 Brazilians and family members, including ten infants. The aircraft should arrive in São Paulo on Monday morning (14), after making a technical stopover in Portugal.

With this group, the federal government rescued 1,105 people and 13 pets in eight days of Operation Raízes do Cedro.

Despite the bombings in Lebanon, the Foreign Ministry observed one on its official mission.

According to the ministry, name checking will be reinforced by telephone to complete flights and avoid problems with cancellations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, stated last Wednesday (9) that he is about to return to Brazilian territory. The number of dropouts has not yet been released.

The FAB aircraft left a load of donations in Lebanon, with 1,400 basic food baskets and 6,900 packages of medicine, collected by the United for Lebanon Association (UpL).

The government reiterated, in a note on Friday (11), the warning that Brazilians, who are still in Lebanon, follow the security guidelines of local authorities and, if possible, try to leave the territory by their own means. The estimate is that the Brazilian community in Lebanon is 20 thousand people.

At least in Lebanon after Israeli bombings. Itamaraty condemned the situation and called for an end to hostilities.
