Finland has not reached an agreement with Turkey: entry into NATO is postponed

Finnish President Sauli Niiniste said the country is unlikely to be able to join the North Atlantic Alliance before September due to Turkey’s position.

Niinist made this statement at a press conference with the head of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola on June 21 in Helsinki.

How did the negotiations with Turkey go?

Niinistö said that following the results of yesterday’s meeting of representatives of Finland, Sweden and Turkey, held at NATO headquarters in Brussels, little progress had been achieved.

According to him, it is unlikely that Finland will be able to join NATO before September.
