Why Finland wants to close the border with Russia

As Rantanen reported, the Finnish Ministry of Internal Affairs is preparing a proposal to close or limit the operation of checkpoints on the border with the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is preparing a proposal according to which border crossing points will be closed or their work will be limited, – said the minister, noting that the legislation allows this.

According to her, such a decision could be made due to the influx of refugees from Syria, Yemen, Somalia and other countries.

Last week, 71 asylum seekers arrived at the Finnish border from Russia.

Rantanen noted that the Finnish authorities discussed this issue with Moscow, but this did not bring the desired result.

The Finnish authorities plan until 2027 to allow the seizure of real estate from owners who are late in payments or do not communicate.

Against this background, entry restrictions for property owners from Russia were tightened in early July. Due to sanctions, making bank payments from the Russian Federation is extremely difficult, which makes paying taxes and bills impossible.
