The head of the Finnish government, Petteri Orpo, said that the country does not intend to conduct political discussions with Russia on the situation on the border.

This was reported by the Finnish TV channel Yle.

What Orpo said about dialogue with Russia

According to the report, the Prime Minister of Finland said that the country does not intend to conduct political discussions with Russia on the situation on the border, but is ready to discuss the problem at the diplomatic level.

As the Finnish border guard reported, regular meetings are held with Russian border guards, but so far the negotiations have not led to stabilization of the situation.

On November 18, Finland closed four checkpoints on the border with Russia (Imatra, Vaalimaa, Niirala and Nuijamaa) until February 18 next year due to the influx of migrants.

On November 22, the Finnish authorities decided to close three more border crossings until December 23.

At the moment, only one checkpoint remains open – Raja-Jooseppi. Helsinki does not rule out completely closing the border.

As Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko noted, in this case Finland will harm its own interests.

Moscow emphasized that accusations of creating a migration crisis are on the conscience of those who voice them.

The Russian side drew attention to the fact that the influx of refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Ukraine and other countries was provoked by the destructive actions of the United States and its allies.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that the Russophobic position of Helsinki is regrettable.
