Finland has no plans to comply with Turkey’s demands for the North European country to join the North Atlantic Alliance.

Relevant information appeared in the Finnish media.

It is noted that the Republic of Turkey is ready to apply Finland to NATO only if the conditions are met.

Thus, Recep Tayyip Erdogan demands that Finland extradite people who are representatives of movements recognized as illegal in Turkey.

As reported in Finnish publications, Helsinki refused to carry out this extradition.

Finland did not agree to hand over to Turkey people who, according to the country’s representatives, were associated with the Gülen movement or the Kurdish organization PKK, recognized as terrorist in Turkey, – MIA “” reports with reference to Finnish media.

Finland and NATO

After the start of a special military operation carried out by Russia in Ukraine, two Northern European states immediately expressed a desire to join the North Atlantic Alliance.

We are talking about neutral countries such as Finland and Sweden. They submitted their application to join NATO in mid-May.

However, at the moment, Türkiye, which is a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, opposes membership in the organization of the two above-mentioned countries.

This is due to the position of Finland and Sweden on the PKK, an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Republic of Turkey.
