The first lady of João Pessoa, Lauremília Lucena, remains in prison after undergoing a custody hearing in the capital of Paraíba, this Saturday morning (28).

The wife of current mayor Cícero Lucena was also there this Saturday.

She is the target of an investigation into the violent solicitation of voters and criminal organizations in municipal elections.

The session was held at the João Pessoa Criminal Forum, at the request of judge Lúcia de Fátima. After the prison was maintained, Lauremília was sent to the Júlia Maranhão Women’s Prison, also in the capital.

In a statement, the politician stated that this Saturday’s operation is an attack engineered by his opponents on the eve of the election. According to him, his wife will prove that she is a victim of persecution.

In the third phase of Operation Free Territory, which arrested the first lady, agents carried out two search and seizure warrants and two preventive arrest warrants.

The action had the support of the Special Action Group Against Organized Crime (Gaeco).

According to investigators, the investigations carried out this Saturday are the result of the analysis of the material seized in the two previous phases of the operation.

The objective is to complement the evidence of materiality, authorship and circumstances of the crimes investigated.
