A court in Florida has closed a criminal case against former US President Donald Trump for improper storage of secret documents.
The court’s decision was published in its electronic database.
Why a Florida court dismissed the case against Trump
According to the court order, charges against Trump were dropped due to violations of the rules for the appointment of a special prosecutor.
Thus, the court granted the request of the defense of the former US President, who pointed out the illegality of the appointment of the special prosecutor.
The Clerk of Court has been instructed to close this case, – the decision says.
In August 2022, the FBI raided Trump’s Florida estate and found boxes of classified documents.
Last summer, Trump was charged with mishandling classified documents and faced up to 400 years in prison.
