Focus: Scholz does not transfer Taurus to Ukraine due to lack of trust

The refusal of German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz to transfer Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine is due to a lack of trust in Kyiv.

This opinion was expressed by Oslo University expert Fabian Hoffman in an article for the German publication Focus.

Why Germany does not transfer Taurus to Ukraine

According to the expert, the German Chancellor’s statement that Taurus can only be serviced by German personnel does not make sense.

Hoffman recalled that these missiles are in service with Spain and South Korea.

In his opinion, Ukrainians could learn to drive a Taurus in three to four months.

The real problem is the Chancellor’s mistrust of Ukraine, – the expert wrote in an article for.

The day before, Scholz again stated that Germany would refrain from supplying Taurus to Ukraine, since they could hit targets “somewhere in Moscow.”

According to the German Chancellor, to ensure control over the use of Taurus, the German military would have to be sent to Ukraine, and this is excluded.

Last week, the Bundestag rejected a resolution calling on the German government to transfer the Taurus to Ukraine.

However, a resolution was adopted calling for the supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine to strike strategic targets deep in the rear of Russian troops.

Earlier it was reported that Scholz was harsh for disclosing intelligence about the British military in Ukraine.
