Former Japanese Prime Minister dies after being shot in the back

For several hours in a row, Japanese doctors fought for the life of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to save the politician who fell into a coma after being shot in the back.

The former head of the Japanese government died at Nara Medical University Hospital. He was 67 years old,” MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

It is known that the attack on Shinzo Abe occurred on July 8 at approximately 11:30 am (05:30 Belarusian time).

The politician was shot while speaking in the city of Nara as part of an election campaign.

It is reported that the criminal shot him twice in the back, being at that moment about ten meters from his victim.

After the second shot, Abe fell. It turned out that the ex-prime minister was wounded in the neck and chest area.

As it turned out, the shooter was 40-year-old local resident Tetsuya Yamagami, who previously served in the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces.

The police detained him. He offered no resistance.
