The Department for Combating Organized Crime (Decor) of the Civil Police of the Federal District is investigating a shooting attack against the lawyer couple Joaquim Pereira de Paula Neto and Patrícia Reitter de Jesus Oliveira. Neto is a former president of the party in São Paulo.

The two were in an armored car on Thursday afternoon (10), in DF-001, when the vehicle was hit by several shots. According to the report, two men on a motorcycle approached the car and one of them knocked on the window and ordered it to pull over, but the pair accelerated and the criminals shot at them.

The two were not injured, but the vehicle was left with marks from the gunshots. The suspects fled.

Joaquim Neto is one of the members of the party who denounced the alleged involvement of PRTB members with the criminal faction PCC. The lawyer became state president after the São Paulo Civil Police indicted the former leader.

Still during the campaign, agora commented on the supposed involvement of the leadership in a hearing on CNN.

“Regarding the presence of people from the PCC in my party, I would like to ask the Civil Police, the Federal Police, please, if you know that they are in my party, why don’t you arrest these guys? I want to run a national campaign, help me clean up the PRTB. The party is small, what is it doing there?”, he declared.

Due to these complaints, the case, initially registered at a regional police station in the DF, began to be investigated by a department specializing in crimes committed by criminal factions, within the PCDF Decor.

The two lawyers must be called to testify so that investigators know whether the attack had any political motivation and connection with the PCC in São Paulo or whether it was an attempted robbery (robbery followed by death) at that time. The affected car will undergo forensic examination.

CNN tries to contact PRTB. But there has been no response yet.
