Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright passed away at the age of 85.

It was under her that the American military bombed Yugoslavia, and NATO began to expand.

The death of the ex-Secretary of State, known for her tough stance on foreign policy issues, was announced by her family.

It is with broken hearts that we announce that Dr. Madeleine K. Albright, the 64th Secretary of State and the first woman to serve, passed away earlier today. – her relatives MIA “Russia Today”.

According to them, Madeleine Albright died due to cancer.

Albright served as US Secretary of State from 1997 to 2001 (during Bill Clinton’s presidency).

As already noted, under Albright, the United States bombed Yugoslavia, and NATO expanded eastward – in 1999, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary became members of the Alliance.

By the way, Madeleine was born in the Czech Republic – in Prague. Dad and mom – Jews – emigrated to the States to escape the Nazis. And with them their daughter.

Prior to her appointment as Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright served as the US Permanent Representative to the UN.
