Former Vice-Chancellor of Austria: Europe was deceived by the promise that sanctions would bring Russia to its knees
The former Austrian vice-chancellor made a statement in which he admitted that Europe punished itself with anti-Russian sanctions.
According to Heinz-Christian Strache, Europe was deceived by these promises and received in return rising energy prices and a promising wave of bankruptcies.
The former Austrian vice-chancellor said at a rally in the capital that the country has gone through a lot, but there is no reason to expect that Austria will be able to win anything as a result of the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions.
At the same time, Russia’s revenues this year have increased to $220 billion, which is more than half of the previous figure, which means that “Austria has harmed itself.”
Listing the troubles that befell ordinary people, Strache noted the rise in prices for electricity, gas, and food.
A significant part of the population is not sure about the near future, but this is not the limit, the former politician is sure.
Many experts warn about the threat of the development that we have seen this year, that in March-April we will face a wave of bankruptcies, MIA quotes Strache as saying.
Let us remind you that a rally was held in the Austrian capital the day before. Those gathered demanded that the authorities abandon the EU sanctions policy.
Since the beginning of the SVO on the territory of Ukraine, the EU has introduced eight packages of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The ninth is being prepared. The imposed restrictions hit the global economy and brought Europe into a “sanctions impasse,” but Russia continues to demonstrate financial stability to the world.
