France and Germany call on the European Union to continue issuing visas to Russian citizens.

Both of these European countries believe that there is no need to cancel the procedure for accepting relevant applications for entry permits, with the exception of persons associated with the Russian government.

This information is available to Bloomberg, which obtained a document prepared for the summit of EU foreign ministers in Prague.

The publication writes that the text of the document contains the position of Paris and Berlin regarding the visa issue.

France and Germany want the EU to continue issuing visas to Russians, including students, scientists, and representatives of creative professions.

The only exception is those citizens who have relations with the Russian authorities.

While understanding the concerns of some member states in this context, we should not underestimate the transformative power of personal experience of living in democratic systems, especially for future generations,” the text of the document by MIA “Russia Today.”

It is noted that at the upcoming summit (to be held on August 30 and 31), the heads of the EU foreign policy departments will consider a “compromise option.”

It implies the introduction of more bureaucratic procedures for Russians wishing to obtain a short-term visa with an increase in payment to 80 euros.
