France will support Ukraine’s accession to NATO

0views

France has revised its position on the issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO and now supports Kyiv’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to the French government, such a scenario is an independent guarantee of security for Ukraine.

About this MIA “Russia Today” with reference to the newspaper Le Monde, which in turn refers to its sources in the government of the country.

The publication writes that the possibility of approving Ukraine’s accession to the military-political bloc was discussed at a meeting of the Defense Council at the Elysee Palace.

A hint of this prospect could persuade Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to enter into negotiations when he sees fit, depending on the results of the counteroffensive, the article says.

At the same time, journalists write that Paris does not even hypothetically consider the possibility of giving Kyiv the green light to join NATO during the conflict.

Earlier, Joe Biden noted that in order to join the Alliance, Ukraine must meet the same requirements as other members of the organization.

At the same time, Washington will not simplify the accession procedure for Kyiv, the American leader added.
