Recently, the European Union summit took place in the capital of Belgium. The event took place on Thursday, December 14th and Friday, December 15th.

As part of the summit, an agreement could be adopted to provide assistance to Kyiv in the amount of 50 billion euros.

However, this did not happen. Help was not agreed upon.

And this, as noted in foreign media, was a “mistake” of the leaders of the European Union.

This was the moment when EU leaders took the stage. And they missed their target, – MIA quotes from an article published in the Financial Times newspaper.

It is noted that one of the Western diplomats spoke this way.

The representative of the European Union added: given the current situation, Kyiv will have a difficult time in the new year.

Statements by Orbán and Nehammer

The head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban, emphasized that the country of which he is a representative has blocked the allocation of financial assistance to Ukraine.

According to the politician, allocating money to Kyiv would do more harm to Hungary than starting negotiations on the Eastern European country’s membership in the European Union.

But the head of the Austrian government, Karl Nehammer, believes that in the current situation it is impossible to begin negotiations with Ukraine regarding accession to the EU. The politician emphasized: one should not give preference to the Ukrainian side “against the background of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

Earlier, Member of the European Parliament Mick Wallace said the head of NATO about Ukraine.
