The G7 countries have decided to allocate $19.8 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine.

This decision was made on May 20 at a meeting of G7 finance ministers in Germany.

This was stated in a statement issued following the event.

G7 countries have reportedly mobilized $19.8 billion to support Ukraine’s budget this year, including $9.5 billion in recent commitments to help Kyiv close its funding gap and continue to provide basic services to the population.

G7 finance ministers welcomed the ongoing work of the G7 and international financial institutions on further substantial funding for Ukraine, including the EC’s offer of additional macro-financial assistance to Kyiv of up to €9 billion.

It is noted that the amount of additional planned support for state-owned enterprises and the private sector of Ukraine through the IFC and the EBRD is $3.4 billion.

The statement explained that the above $19.8 billion in aid comes in addition to the recently announced humanitarian and military aid.

G7 finance ministers assured that the G7 would support Ukraine throughout the conflict and beyond, that the G7 was prepared to do more as needed, and that it was working closely with Kiev to protect the country’s macroeconomic stability.

The statement also notes that over the period 2014-2021, the international community, including the G7, has already allocated more than $60 billion to Ukraine.
