Today, November 24, 2023, the agreement between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip came into effect.

It came into force at seven o’clock in the morning local time (08:00 Minsk time).

The agreement involves a four-day truce, TASS citing Al Hadath TV channel.

Information about the truce (achieved through the mediation of Qatar), which began on the morning of November 24, is confirmed by The Times of Israel.

However, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said that troops will remain in their positions in Gaza during the pause in hostilities.

He added: the Israeli military intends to use the truce to plan the next stages of the military operation.

And a member of the leadership of Islamic Jihad, Ali Abu Shahin, announced his intention to maintain a state of combat readiness and monitor Tel Aviv’s compliance with the terms of the deal.

According to him, the possibility of future similar truces depends on the behavior of Israel.

Earlier, an employee of the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari, said that the first group of hostages held in Gaza would be released on November 24 at five o’clock in the evening, Belarusian time.

This group included 13 women and children, the diplomat from Qatar specified.

In turn, Israel will release 39 Palestinian prisoners from its prisons on November 24.

During the four-day truce, humanitarian supplies will be delivered to the enclave through the Egyptian Rafah checkpoint.
