Referendum in South Ossetia

Let us recall that at the end of March, the current President of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, stated that the republic intends to take legal steps to become part of Russia.

The day before, the Central Election Commission of the Republic approved and sent to Bibilov a package of documents on holding a referendum on this issue.

By Bibilov’s decree, the referendum was scheduled for July 17.

The elected president of the republic, Alan Gagloev, who will take office on March 24, stated in an interview with TASS that a referendum on joining Russia should be held when Moscow makes it clear that the time has come for this.
