What did Berbock say about Ukraine’s accession to the European Union?

The minister expressed confidence that Ukraine will become a member of the community in the future.

It is obvious that Ukraine will strengthen the EU in the foreseeable future, – she said.

The head of German diplomacy emphasized that this is in the geopolitical interests of the EU.

Therefore, we will not only continue our support for Ukraine, but also increase it, – added Burbock.

Also today, the head of the German government, Olaf Scholz, promised to continue supporting Ukraine.

Germany is the second largest supplier of weapons to Ukraine after the United States. In total, Berlin provided $25 billion in assistance to Kyiv.

It recently became known that Germany plans to increase aid to Ukraine next year from 4 to 88 billion euros.

On November 8, the European Commission recommended that the EU Council begin negotiations with Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldova on accession to the community, as well as grant candidate status to Georgia.

The decision is expected to be approved at the December EU summit.

On November 17, Reuters, citing a senior European official, reported that the decision could be postponed to March.
