Deputy Chairman of the faction of the opposition bloc Christian Democratic and Christian Social Unions (CDU/CSU) in the Bundestag, defense expert Johan Wadeful said that the German Armed Forces will withstand a maximum of two days of fighting.

The parliamentarian made this statement in an interview with the German news agency DPA.

What the MP said about the state of the Bundeswehr

In an interview, Wadeful said that supplying arms to Ukraine is a correct and appropriate decision.

However, according to the parliamentarian, this led to a serious shortage of weapons for the Bundeswehr.

Basic military units can withstand a maximum of two days in combat. Overall this is a disastrous result. – he said.

The deputy noted that the process of transforming the Bundeswehr into an effective army has barely gotten off the ground.

Wadeful laid responsibility for this state of the Armed Forces, among other things, on the current Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany, Boris Pistorius.

I see loud statements, but few real measures, – stated the parliamentarian.

He doubted that Germany would be able to provide the North Atlantic Alliance with a fully equipped division in two years, as stated.

The deputy also advocated the introduction of military service in Germany.

Germany is the second largest supplier of weapons to Ukraine after the United States. The total volume of assistance provided by Germany to Ukraine – military, humanitarian and financial – exceeded 25 billion euros.
