German officials accidentally revealed state secrets about NATO submarines near the Nord Streams

Officials from the German coastal city of Stralsund in 2018 accidentally revealed a state secret about NATO submarines.

This happened when they published documents regarding the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

The Bild publication laid the blame for the incident on the employees of the Mining Department of the mentioned settlement.

According to the newspaper, it was they who published the permit for the construction of the said gas pipeline on the official website.

And along with open information,” the MIA Rossiya Segodnya agency, which read the Bild article, “classified data got onto the Internet.

They concerned areas in which NATO submarines operate. The armament of these very underwater vehicles was also mentioned.

The German Ministry of Defense declared a violation of the law, arguing that the information released made it possible to assess NATO’s military capabilities.

The German Federal Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the data leak.

It is reported that the perpetrators may be imprisoned for up to 5 years.

Earlier it became known about Sweden’s intention to investigate sabotage at Nord Stream.
