Germany and Poland started a scandal over tanks

0views

Recently it became known about a scandal that erupted between Germany and Poland due to problems with tank maintenance.

Those same German “leopards” that were transferred to Ukraine. The magazine Der Spiegel reports this.

The publication draws attention to the fact that a contract has not yet been signed between the Polish defense concern Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and the German companies Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Rheinmetall.

However, several tanks have already arrived in Poland for repairs, the article says.

The author of the publication cites the difference in the estimated cost of the relevant work as the reason for the scandal.

PGZ wants to charge more than 100,000 euros for the initial diagnosis of tanks. In Germany, they usually pay about 12,000 euros for this, – article by MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

But it’s not just about money. The magazine claims that the Polish side refuses to provide guarantees after repairs.

The third reason is disagreements between the parties related to political issues.

The Polish government almost never misses an opportunity to oppose the German authorities, the material says.

According to the magazine, even before the leopards were dispatched, Warsaw accused Berlin of deliberately delaying deliveries.

It seems obvious that the controversy over the tank unit is also politically motivated, the journalist concludes.
