The German Federal Court has decided to uphold the conviction of 99-year-old former Stutthof concentration camp secretary Irmgard Furchner.

Previously, this woman was found involved in murders in more than 10,000 cases and was given a suspended sentence.

About this MIA “Russia Today” with reference to the N-TV channel.

Verdict and appeal

From the materials of the high-profile case, it is known that in December 2022, the Land Court of the city of Itzehoe sentenced Furchner to 2 years of suspended imprisonment.

The defendant’s defense filed an appeal. Therefore, all this time – until the decision of the German Federal Court – the verdict was considered not to have entered into force.

It is curious that the case was tried in the juvenile court, since Furchner was under 21 years old at the time of the crime.

As far as German journalists know, at one time the woman tried to escape justice.

As for the Federal Court, it confirmed the conviction of the former concentration camp secretary for complicity in mass murder.

The Fifth Criminal Senate of the Federal Court in Leipzig rejected the appeal against the decision of the Itzehoe Regional Court, N-TV reported.

Concentration camp

Note that the Stutthof concentration camp was created in 1939 on the territory of occupied Poland (located near Gdansk).

Over the entire period of its operation, about 65,000 people were killed there, tortured by the Nazis.

In that camp, among other things, medical experiments were carried out on the prisoners, and soap was made from human bodies.

Today there is a museum on the site of Stutthof.
