17views

The Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, stated this Tuesday (17) that the federal government is studying the creation of the National Climate Security Council.

According to the minister, the body would operate along the lines of the National Food Security Council, responsible for advising the Presidency on public policies focused on food.

“President Lula would like us to study, as a matter of urgency, the possibility of creating the National Climate Security Council. This is a great idea”, said Marina, adding that the idea is for the body to bring together representatives of the Three Powers, as well as sectors of society, such as the business sector.

The minister gave the statement at a meeting on fires held at Palácio do Planalto with the presidents of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) , and the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Luís Roberto Barroso.

Extraordinary credit

During the meeting, the government announced the sending of a Provisional Measure (MP) to the National Congress to open extraordinary credit.

The measure complies with the authorization of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Flávio Dino to release resources outside the fiscal framework to combat fires, without impact on fiscal goals. Dino’s opinion was published on Sunday (15).
