Governors cite help for RS to demand more support for the North region in combating fires

0views

Governors demonstrate dissatisfaction with the treatment they have received from the federal government in combating the fires that hit the country. They claim that the treatment given to the North region of the country is different from that offered to the South region.

The complaint is that during the floods in Rio Grande do Sul there was rapid mobilization. At the time, R$1.2 billion was made available to the state through extraordinary credit. For fighting fires in the Amazon, for example, the credit available is R$514 million.

The value, according to governors interviewed by the CNNdoes not include expenses with firefighters, firefighters and equipment.

The tone of the complaint increases even more when these same state representatives remember that most of the fires are in Union areas.

In Pará, for example, 70% of the fire would be concentrated in Union territories.

This Thursday (19), a group of governors was received by ministers at Palácio do Planalto. Lula did not participate. The idea was to align joint measures to combat fires.

Some local representatives, however, left the meeting claiming that the federal government was “not prepared” to deal with the fires and that it had procrastinated prevention actions.

The Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, refuted the criticism and defended the creation of regional structures, in partnership with consortia from each region of the country.
