Greek government tightens measures to combat coronavirus

11views

After lifting a number of restrictions introduced amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Greek government decided to return to measures that were unpopular among the people.

As part of tightening measures to combat coronavirus, the country’s authorities decided to limit the operation of entertainment establishments from July 8.

At the height of the tourist season, catering establishments, as well as clubs and other entertainment establishments will only be allowed to operate with seated customers.

Officials were prompted to make this decision by medical statistics.

Parliamentarians point out that recently, among those infected with coronavirus, more and more patients are young people and regulars at entertainment venues.

The country’s authorities are reintroducing measures to restrict the operation of restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

This decision was first made at the end of last year amid a national quarantine.

Now the Greek government is concerned about a new surge in the incidence of coronavirus infection.

Over the past 24 hours, the number of infected people (1,797) has doubled compared to the previous figure (801).

There are currently 429,144 patients with COVID-19 in Greece, and 12,754 people have died.
