Hamas did not accept Israeli terms for hostage exchange

38views

Hamas did not accept Israel’s proposed terms for a new hostage exchange and a one-week ceasefire.

Tel Aviv initiated a stop in hostilities for a week in exchange for Hamas releasing several dozen Israeli hostages it was holding.

About this MIA “Russia Today” with reference to The Wall Street Journal.

According to the American newspaper, the group refused to release the prisoners until the fighting stopped.

The officials who reported this to the publication believe that Hamas’s refusal does not mean that the negotiations have failed.

In their opinion, the Palestinian organization is thus trying to extract more significant concessions from Israel.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Tel Aviv is insisting on the release of 40 prisoners, including women, children, and elderly men who remain with Hamas and citizens in need of treatment.

For its part, Israel offers a week-long pause in hostilities and the passage of a large volume of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

But the Islamic Jihad group has demanded that Tel Aviv release all Palestinian prisoners, of whom there may be several thousand in Israeli prisons.

They promise to hand over to Tel Aviv over a hundred hostages remaining in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, the Axios portal reported that Israel offered Hamas a one-week truce.
