US Vice President Kamala Harris officially announced her intention to participate in the presidential election on July 25.
She published a corresponding statement on the social network X.
How Harris became a US presidential candidate
On July 21, President Joseph Biden announced that he did not intend to seek re-election and supported the nomination of Harris as a candidate from the Democratic Party.
On July 23, Harris announced that she had secured the broad support necessary to be nominated as a candidate from the Democratic Party.
The Associated Press news agency reported that by the evening of July 22, Harris’ candidacy was supported by 2,538 delegates to the upcoming Democratic Party convention. The votes of 1,976 delegates are needed to nominate a candidate.

She also published a campaign video and called on her compatriots to finance her campaign.
According to CNN, Biden finally decided to withdraw from the election race only on July 21.
The Washington Post reported that Biden spoke by phone with Harris before announcing his decision.
The US presidential elections are scheduled for November 5th. Republicans at the party convention on July 15 officially nominated former President Donald Trump. The Democratic Party Congress will take place in August.
