American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh explained why US President Joseph Biden decided to undermine the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
According to Hersh, the American president blew up gas pipelines because of the failures of the Ukrainian army at the front, and also to punish the head of the German government, Olaf Scholz, for refusing to supply weapons to Ukraine.
The journalist expressed this opinion in an interview published on March 24.
Why did Biden blow up gas pipelines?
Hersh believes that the failures of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield made the US president worry about further funding of the conflict by European countries, especially Germany.
According to the journalist, Biden was afraid of Scholz’s reluctance to supply weapons to Ukraine.
I don’t know if it was anger or punishment, but the end result was that an important source of energy for Western Europe was cut off, – said Hersh.
He also said that the United States began planning to blow up gas pipelines at the end of 2021.
