25views

It has become known how many nuclear warheads are currently in the US arsenal.

The relevant information was released by the press service of the United States State Department. Note that compared to 1967 data, this figure decreased by 88%.

In 1967, there were 31,255 units in the US arsenal.

In 1989, the number of nuclear warheads was reduced to 22,217.

According to published data as of September 2020, the country had 3,750 warheads in its arsenal.

According to the department, more than 11 thousand nuclear warheads were dismantled in the United States between 1994 and 2020 alone.

Since September 2017, 711 units have been destroyed.

Almost 2 thousand warheads have already been written off and are awaiting their turn to be dismantled.

Let us recall that in February of this year, the New START treaty concluded between Russia and the United States was extended.

Under the terms of the agreement, countries can store no more than 1,550 nuclear warheads.

The number of intercontinental ballistic missiles, ballistic missiles deployed on submarines and strategic bombers should not exceed more than 700 units.

As of September 1, the US Army has 2,854 units of strategic offensive weapons on its balance sheet.
